James 1:27 – “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.”
Background: At E4 Project, we believe that God has a special place in His heart for widows and commands us to take care of these women, as they are a more vulnerable people group. We wholeheartedly believe in and stand behind the Hands of Grace ministry to widows and marginalized women. Our mission at E4 Project is to ‘defend the cause of the poor and needy’, and the women of Hands of Grace are central to our vision. We have partnered with this ministry for over three years and we are excited to take the next step together with the new sewing center and ministry in Libreville, Gabon. The center will provide the women opportunities to earn income through their sewing projects, and will provide a space for ongoing training.
Current: E4 Project and Hands of Grace have started a micro-enterprise program for widows. Our ministry partners established a sewing center in a new rental facility that is secured for the at least the next year. Approximately 15 sewing machines have been donated by our partner churches for the women to use to earn income. Our goal is to raise enough funding for the first year’s rent, staffing, utilities and supplies needed for the center. This program will allow for widows and marginalized women to work shifts at the machines to earn income to support themselves and their children. Please contact us if you would like more detailed information on how this program will operate.
The long-term impact of this program is to provide a sustainable stream of income for many of the women served through this ministry. The women will have certain hours, days or schedules prepared by Hands of Grace for when they can work.
