A Commmand to Obey

“Jesus has not given us a commission to consider; He has given us a command to obey.”
David Platt, Counter Culture

We often focus our newsletters on the physical impact we are making in people's lives as we serve God through E4. While this is extremely important and is a reflection of the Gospel, the spiritual impact of our work is even more important. The way we serve with our partners in other countries gives them a platform to share the Gospel message. At the heart of E4, this is why we do what we do. Jesus commanded us to spread the Gospel to the ends of the earth, and this is central to all E4 Project does.

Today, we focus on stories about God’s redemptive love and the hope that we all have in Jesus. For the next four weeks, we will share one story with you each week. Then, they will all be available in a future blog post as well.

Alofioka Issa’s Story (Nebobongo, the Democratic Republic of Congo)
Alofioka Issa traveled over 250 km from Dingila to Nebobongo Hospital. Born a Muslim, he had never known Jesus Christ and had lived a dark life, practicing witchcraft and taking the lives of others. Though he once longed to hear about Jesus in Dingila, he never had the opportunity.

At Nebobongo, he began listening to the daily sermons shared with patients. One day, the chaplain gave him a stone inscribed with Romans 5:7-8 and shared the Great Commission from Matthew 28:19-20. These words touched his heart, and Alofioka accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior.

Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 5:7-8

As his faith grew, so did his health—experiencing both physical and spiritual healing. Upon leaving the hospital, he expressed heartfelt gratitude to the chaplaincy and the medical staff who had cared for him and helped lead him to Christ. He left the hospital with a new life following Jesus.

The Hidden Strength of a Christian Domestic Worker (Lahore, Pakistan)
Parveen Khalil, 40, lives in Mariam Nishat Colony, Lahore, with her disabled husband and two daughters. As the sole breadwinner, she works six days a week as a domestic worker, earning about PKR 25,000 ($86) per month. Without formal education or job security, she faces low wages and gender-based challenges—but her faith gives her strength.

Parveen Khalil

Parveen was registered in E4 and Messiah Ministries’ Empowering Christian Women Domestic Workers Project, where she learned sewing, jewelry-making, and flower-making, as well as basic literacy. She was taught by her Christian instructor and guided by Colossians 3:23: “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord.” As she learned to thread the needle and guide the cloth, she also learned patience, discipline, and confidence. Her teacher taught how their hands could preach the Gospel through the way we work with integrity, kindness, and excellence.

After completing her training, Parveen began stitching clothes for her family. One of her employers, a Muslim woman, noticed her handmade dress and later asked, “Why are you always smiling, even when things go wrong?” Parveen simply replied, “Because Jesus is with me.” She has become a witness to her Muslim employers every day.

We are currently working on an exciting way to partner with E4 Project for the Christmas season, and we look forward to sharing it with you soon. We have a list of Christmas gifts you can purchase (ranging from $6 to $125 each) that will change lives in Gabon, the DRC, and Pakistan. Look for our email coming in mid-November! This is a great way to include children in your giving as well and we are really looking forward to it!

  • We are so thankful for donations received after our last newsletter to fund the new X-ray system at Nebobongo Hospital. We sent the funds over about a week ago, and they should have a working system within about a month.
  • Pastor Jacob continues to distribute more mobility carts to those in need throughout the Libreville area.
  • We started our advanced sewing training program in Youngsonabad, Pakistan
  • The Christian domestic workers graduated from the first six-month training program in Lahore, Pakistan
  • Our family stabilization program with MINE distributed 187 school kits to children in need while sharing the Gospel message to the entire group, parents and children alike. Based on two biblical passages: Jeremiah 33:3 and John 3:16, Pastor Hermann highlighted God's unconditional love and His sacrifice for us.
  • Continued work with children at the brick kilns in Faisalabad, Pakistan
  • We are planning our next team to serve in Gabon, July 2026. We already have about six people interested/committed. If you are interested, please contact Brynn at brynn@e4project.org
  • Distributed bedding and food to over 40 Muslim, agnostic, and Christian families in Pakistan who lost everything in a flood. The Gospel message was shared with the families, and our staff prayed over many of them. One of these prayers will be the next story we share.
