Declare in Both Word and Deed
“What is the task of the church? We are to embody Jesus Christ by doing what He did and what He continues to do through us: declare - using both words and deeds - that Jesus is the King of kings and Lord of lords who is bringing in a kingdom of righteousness, justice, and peace. And the church needs to do this where Jesus did it, among the blind, the lame, the sick, the outcast, and the poor.” - Brian Fikkert, When Helping Hurts
Gabon Team, July 2025
At E4 Project, our mission is to see people as Jesus did and to walk alongside our partners in underserved communities. This past summer, we took a team to Gabon who had the privilege of serving in several of these communities, being the hands and feet of Jesus. Thanks to the faithful preparation of our partners, our team from Ohio was able to serve in a powerful and tangible way, ministering to the blind, the lame, the outcast, and the poor. We invite you to read the blog post written by Eric Schmidt, who led the team in July, to learn more about their journey. The team served in the following ways:
- Three vision clinics with a USEE kit that we brought from the States
- Mobility carts built and distributed
- Mobile medical clinic serving approximately 300 people
- Serving with our partners at their summer camp for 250 children
- Worked on future medical center
- Gaining access to water for Pastor Jacob at his home
Nebobongo Hospital, DRC
We have a very specific need at Nebobongo Hospital in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The hospital had a portable, digital X-ray machine that we purchased and shipped to them about three years ago. About two months ago, it broke, and the software stopped working. We investigated the repair costs for this, and they were comparable to the cost of purchasing a new X-ray system. Dr. Sengi, the medical director for the hospital, informed us that he can get a similar system in Uganda for approximately $6,500 USD. E4 does not have the funds for this, but we are praying that God would provide for this, as it is crucial to saving lives and treating patients accurately. If this need resonates with you, please reach out to us.
Domestic Workers Literacy and Skill Program, Pakistan
Our program in Lahore continues to meet five nights a week after the women have finished working for the day. There are currently 25 Christian women committing their time and energy to learn to read, write, count, sew and learn other skills that will help lift them out of poverty as they move beyond the program. A beautiful outcome of the training is that the women have created a very strong community and relationships with one another. The following was shared by one of the younger women receiving training.
Rimsha Ashiq, 21, is a young domestic worker in Lahore. She is an orphan and lives with her younger sister. She has been working as a domestic worker for the last four years. She is unmarried and committed to upgrade her living standard through literacy and skills training. She works part-time, six days a week and earns about $53 USD per month. Sometimes her young sister accompanies her and assists her in her work. As is common with domestic workers, she faces numerous challenges, including a lack of formal employment, a lack of a contract for work, and a lack of benefits. She is vulnerable to exploitation. In the first three months of the program, she has learned the English and Urdu alphabets, can write her name, and count from 1 to 100. She has also learned how to sew, create flower arrangements, and make jewelry. She is motivated and believes that becoming a skilled worker will help her earn a more reasonable income to provide for the basic necessities of life.
Children in Bonded Labor, Pakistan
Through our intern, Aroob, we have been serving orphaned children who are slaves in the brick kiln industry in areas surrounding Faisalabad, Pakistan. She has been visiting the children weekly at a specific kiln that has over 45 orphans. She is learning their stories and building relationships with all the children, and we provide funding for food, water, and Bible lesson materials each week. We are gradually moving toward supporting these children, most recently through the distribution of hygiene kits. We are currently working on solutions to address the flooding that occurs in their encampment every time a storm passes. While our long-term goal is to free these children, there are many steps that must be taken carefully, and determining where they could go after finding freedom is a significant challenge and a prayer request. Click here to watch a video of Aroob sharing the hygiene kits with these children.
New E4 Board Members
We are very excited to welcome Nate and Daisy Rapp to our board. They were on the team to Gabon in July, and their hearts for Jesus and missions were on full display. They will both be wonderful additions to our board and have extensive experience in missions. This brings our board to six, in addition to the two E4 founders. We continue to pray about future board members, and if you think this could be you, please don't hesitate to reach out to us.
We are continually grateful for your prayers and financial support as we serve the poor and needy in many communities worldwide. We cannot do this without partners like you.
