Ministry to Vulnerable Children, Gabon
Background: The Evangelism Ministry for Children and Youth (MINE is the acronym in French) serves vulnerable children and families facing difficult circumstances throughout Gabon. The country has experienced a troubling rise in the number of abandoned children, children living on the streets, and children affected by physical, psychological, or sexual abuse. Many others face severe neglect or come into conflict with the law. Each year, newborns are abandoned in public places or left outside shelters, while other children must be removed from their homes for their safety and protection.
“Child maltreatment is the abuse and neglect that occurs to children under 18 years of age. It includes all types of physical and/or emotional ill-treatment, sexual abuse, neglect, negligence, and commercial or other exploitation, which results in actual or potential harm to the child’s health, survival, development, or dignity in the context of a relationship of responsibility, trust or power.” - Africa Health Organisation
For more than fifteen years, MINE has worked alongside vulnerable families to improve the health, safety, and well-being of children. Rooted in the love of Jesus Christ, MINE seeks to meet both physical and spiritual needs. Through every program and interaction, the ministry shares the hope of the Gospel and reminds children and families that they are deeply loved, valued, and never forgotten by God. Through E4 Project’s partnership and ongoing support, MINE has significantly expanded its ability to serve children and families over the past few years. Together we have provided:
Current: MINE focuses on areas outside the capital city of Libreville, with large concentrations of unstable families and vulnerable children. They provide tools and resources to stabilize family units, while also offering wonderful support and opportunities for children. Their programs do more than meet immediate needs. They help children remain in school, gain access to essential healthcare, and receive the care and protection they need. Most importantly, they allow MINE to share the love of Jesus and the lasting hope found in Him, helping vulnerable children and their families know that their lives have dignity, purpose, and a hopeful future.

The impact of your giving
40 children and teenagers have received continuous tuition support through our programs. Many have achieved their baccalaureate and are preparing for or taking entrance exams for prestigious universities. Some are now pursuing higher education, including studies abroad.
Results To Date
The video below was produced by MINE (Ministere de L’évangélisation et de l’enseignement des enfants - Ministry of Evangelism and Children’s Education). It captures one program from the annual plan we support through this cause. This backpack and school supply distribution was held at a church that was recently built in a village steeped in animism and ancestor worship before the team started serving there. Now, there is a Christian community worshipping Jesus and sharing His love through meeting the physical needs of the community.
